Safety of ublituximab – what do we currently know? Review article

Abstract
Ublituximab is one of the newest disease-modifying drugs for multiple sclerosis. It is a monoclonal antibody directed against CD20, a molecule that has become an important therapeutic target in multiple sclerosis in recent years. Although the mechanism of action of ublituximab has been widely described, a complete safety assessment, as with any new drug, relies not only on clinical trial data but also requires a detailed analysis of information from real-world clinical practice. This is clearly only possible over time and with the drug being used in a broad population of patients whose clinical characteristics, including age, comorbidities, and concomitant medications, differ from those required for clinical trial participants. This article presents the current state of knowledge on ublituximab safety based on clinical trials, including the open-label extension phase, and observations from everyday clinical practice. Furthermore, based on available data, areas requiring further research are identified.
