Abstract

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic neuroinflammatory disease in which B lymphocytes play a significant role, participating in the process of demyelination and neurodegeneration. The introduction of anti-CD20 monoclonal antibodies has changed the approach to multiple sclerosis treatment, and one of the newest drugs in this group is ublituximab. This drug demonstrates high efficacy in reducing the number of relapses and demyelinating lesions visible on MRI, as confirmed in the ULTIMATE I and II studies. Ublituximab proved more effective than teriflunomide in reducing disease activity, although no significant differences in disability progression were demonstrated. Long-term follow-up data and real-world evidence analyses confirm the therapy’s sustained efficacy and favorable safety profile. Study results also indicate the benefits of early implementation of highly effective treatment in patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis.
