Abstrakt
Choroba Coatsa jest rzadką, niedziedziczną retinopatią. Charakteryzuje się postępującym uszkodzeniem naczyń krwionośnych siatkówki z wysiękami oraz tętniakami występującymi zazwyczaj jednostronne. Mimo wielu badań nadal nie udało się ustalić jednoznacznej przyczyny tej choroby. Leczenie różni się w zależności od stadium choroby. Obecnie powszechne zastosowanie mają laseroterapia oraz kriokoagulacja. Choroba ma charakter postępujący, dlatego szybka diagnostyka oraz leczenie zmniejszają ryzyko poważnych powikłań.
