Abstrakt

Wrażliwość na kontrast jest kluczową funkcją wzrokową, która rozwija się szybko w okresie niemowlęcym i odgrywa istotną rolę w codziennych aktywnościach wzrokowych. W przeciwieństwie do ostrości wzroku, wrażliwość na kontrast często pogarsza się wcześniej i może pozostawać obniżona pomimo prawidłowej ostrości widzenia. Niniejszy przegląd przedstawia trajektorię rozwoju percepcji kontrastu oraz podkreśla jej znaczenie kliniczne w wybranych chorobach oczu, takich jak jaskra, zwyrodnienie plamki związane z wiekiem oraz niedowidzenie. W artykule podkreślono także znaczenie włączania badania wrażliwości na kontrast do standardowego badania okulistycznego.
