Abstrakt

Aktywacja układu renina–angiotensyna–aldosteron odgrywa kluczową rolę w patogenezie miażdżycy i chorób sercowo-naczyniowych, dlatego jego blokada została uznana za najskuteczniejszą interwencję kardioprotekcyjną. Telmisartan jest korzystny w leczeniu pacjentów z nadciśnieniem tętniczym w monoterapii, a także stanowi bezpieczne połączenie z amlodypiną lub hydrochlorotiazydem. Ponadto może obniżać poziom glukozy we krwi na czczo i poziom cholesterolu LDL, a także zwiększać poziom HDL.
