Abstrakt
Przy wyborze analgetyku opieramy się na drabinie analgetycznej WHO. Gdy leki z I i II stopnia drabiny przestają być skuteczne, musimy sięgnąć po silne opioidy. Pojawia się wtedy problem wyboru odpowiedniej substancji czynnej i indywidualnego doboru skutecznej dawki. W artykule omówiono praktyczne zasady terapii lekami opioidowymi ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem relatywnie nowej opcji, jaką jest tapentadol. To przedstawiciel nowej klasy leków o dwutorowym mechanizmie oddziaływania na szlaki przewodzenia bólu, znajdujący zastosowanie w terapii dolegliwości bólowych o natężeniu umiarkowanym do silnego.
