Abstract

In the group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, there are differences between individual drugs that should be taken into account when choosing a drug with analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. One of the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that shows high therapeutic efficacy in the treatment of inflammatory pain is acemetacin. Acemetacin is a derivative of indole acetic acid, obtained as a result of modification of the chemical structure of indomethacin. It inhibits cyclooxygenase 1 and cyclooxygenase 2 the release of proteolytic enzymes, histamine and hyaluronidase, and inhibits complement activity; acts as an antagonist of bradykinin and serotonin. It has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effects.
