Abstract

Rational combination pharmacotherapy for hypertension is based on individualized combinations of antihypertensive drugs. Optimal treatment for hypertension should be initiated as early as possible in the course of the disease and should provide the patient with stable and long-term blood pressure control, which translates into reduced risk of cardiovascular disease and death, which are associated with complications of inadequately treated hypertension. According to current medical knowledge, one of the most optimal drug combinations used in the treatment of hypertension is telmisartan, amlodipine, and hydrochlorothiazide.
