Abstract

Obesity may lead to poor quality of life quality, development of cardiovascular and hepatic diseases, diabetes, and early death. Lifestyle modification is fundamental in obesity treatment: diet with a daily calorie deficit and systematic physical exercises. Additional therapeutic option is bariatric surgery leading to the decreased food intake and/or intentionally impaired absorption. In the this part of article we discuss practical implementation of European Society of Cardiology guidelines regarding body mass, in the second part we will remind pathophysiology of obesity and other available methods of treatment.
