Abstract

Buccal midazolam is an effective and safe rescue medication used to terminate epileptic seizures at home and in the prehospital setting. Prompt intervention is crucial to preventing the development of status epilepticus. Midazolam’s efficacy is comparable to other benzodiazepines, and its easy route of administration and good bioavailability make it a first-line treatment.
