Abstract

This paper discusses European recommendations for the treatment of acute diarrhea. It identifies medications with clear therapeutic indications and those that may be considered. It also lists those whose effectiveness has not been confirmed in scientific studies. The top three recommended interventions include racecadotril, probiotics and oral rehydration.
