Abstrakt

Istota leczenia nadciśnienia tętniczego wykracza poza kontrolę samych wartości ciśnienia tętniczego i obejmuje dodatkowe czynniki ryzyka sercowo-naczyniowego, głównie cukrzycę. Liczne badania wykazały, że telmisartan wykazuje częściową aktywację agonisty PPAR-γ. Telmisartan jest jednym z preferowanych leków hipotensyjnych u pacjentów z cukrzycą i nadciśnieniem. Telmisartan skutecznie obniża ciśnienie tętnicze i poprawia parametry metaboliczne u pacjentów z cukrzycą.
